DOES ANY OF THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?

  • I want to advance my team’s capacity without requiring them to load on more reps, more hours or more impact to their bodies.

  • We train balance and core strength every day, but how can we make this training stick when it counts? How can I help my athletes develop consistent, elite levels of balance and control?

  • I see movement errors and habits, lack of flexibility, and other obstacles every year that feel impossible to fix, but I know there must be tools to address them. (And I want those tools!)

  • I want to deepen my knowledge in anything that will help me help my athletes find new levels of performance.

  • I’ve seen success with a number of neuro drills for specific issues and want to feel confident using them to solve a wider range of problems.

YES? Then this program is for you.

Why I created Rewiring Performance

Through working with hundreds of gymnasts, dancers and artistic athletes, and having taught hundreds of coaches via conferences and clinics, I see clear gaps in knowledge and tools.

The big one: Most coaches see movement errors solely as biomechanical problems that need biomechanical solutions. But these errors, obstacles, and chronic habits are actually a result of brain-to-body communication. It’s a bit like saying car accidents are solely the car’s fault. We need to look at the driver.

By addressing the system that actually drives movement, corrections happen faster, more automatically, reducing the struggle for everyone.

I’ve led many clinics that are narrower in focus, but as I’m here to shift coaching and performance paradigms, I want to give you the knowledge to lead transformative changes for your team and program.

MY PROMISE

By the end of the mentorship (while you’re still in summer upgrade season), you’ll be able to apply the drills to any athlete, to any situation, and know how to get the results to stick.

By following the week-to-week program roadmap, you’ll have tools to help you:

  • Accelerate learning

  • Fix stubborn problems that your current tools aren’t consistently solving

  • See how quickly the right drill at the right time can work

  • Progress your group, your team, your program at a faster rate.

  • Feel the exuberance of getting more wins - big and small - every day.

You’ll see more dramatic shifts more frequently.

Who the mentorship is for:

Gymnastics and cheer coaches

Circus arts, pole and aerial coaches

Martial arts and dance instructors

Sports performance coaches

Therapists, yoga, Pilates, and mobility instructors

…who understand that more is not always more. That performance training for gymnastics (or cheer or dance or martial arts) doesn’t have to look like gymnastics, cheer, dance, martial arts, etc.

The framework and concepts behind neuro performance are global - they apply to movement generally. The power of this small group mentorship is that I can help you customize the application for the athletes and contexts that matter to you.

YOU’LL LEARN:

  • How to look at movement, learning and performance through a neural lens and why this makes all the difference.

  • The essential principles and concepts behind Neuro Performance Training. This isn’t a series of clinics where I answer, ‘Do you have a drill for _____?’ it’s a deeper dive into the holistic nature of the nervous system.

  • The most powerful drills I teach, many of which I haven’t taught in any other clinics.

  • Frameworks for applying the drills towards specific goals. By understanding the precise neuroscience and brain areas involved in coordination, balance, and muscle function, you’ll be able to troubleshoot with confidence.

  • How to interpret and address capabilities and imbalances through key assessments.

  • How to progress the drills to find the most effective ‘dosage’.

  • How to apply the drills to sport-specific and skill-specific needs.

HOW IT WORKS

  • Every Tuesday, I’ll send a reminder email with an outline of what I’ll be covering that week.

  • Every Wednesday for the first 6 weeks, we’ll meet for 90 minutes via Zoom. The calls start at 10 am PDT (timezone converter) and  each week, I’ll teach concepts, anatomy, and drill application. We’ll have time for Q & A and I’ll stay on the call for as long as it takes to answer all of your questions. CALLS WILL BE RECORDED AND ACCESS DOESN’T EXPIRE.

  • There are 2 additional calls 2 and 4 weeks after the initial 6 calls (early and mid-July). Date and time for these will be set based on availability of coaches in the mentorship.

  • Be prepared to move as we’ll be practicing the drills and assessments each week. I want to you to be 100% comfortable doing and teaching the drills by experiencing the changes yourself.

  • I’ll send the slides and recording out within 24 hours so you’ll have a full description of everything we covered the day before.

  • You’ll be able to communicate directly with me and fellow coaches via a private Facebook group where you can ask me questions that come up as you’re doing or teaching the drills. I’ll check messages Monday - Friday to answer your questions, and to help troubleshoot an athlete’s issues. You can also use the group to compare notes and share wins.

THE BREAKDOWN - WHAT YOU’LL GET

WEEKLY LIVE CALLS (~90 minutes)

Among the topics to be covered:
Neuro Fundamentals The key concepts that will shift how you think about movement and performance.

Drills to unlock fluidity, control and efficiency by filling in the proprioceptive gaps left open by conventional sports and movement instruction.

Building attention and focus Drills to improve their focus (and movement!) during practice and at meets, and the proven feedback technique that accelerates learning.

A brain-first approach to more flexibility Understand what’s really behind their ‘tightness’ and how can you tap into the neural pathways that will help boost active flexibility more quickly and effectively.

Developing real midline stability How to actually improve balance and stability to improve the chances they stay on the beam, generate more power, develop greater control, and hit better shapes.

Support as you integrate, customize and troubleshoot I want you to be successful and own the techniques and drills so you’ll be able to ask questions during the calls and via a Facebook group.

Meet Your Coach & Mentor

Yuka Sugiura, Neuro Performance Coach

Through working with hundreds of dancers and athletes from recreational levels to members of World and Olympic teams, I’ve seen how a brain-based approach can accelerate change, and can make a difficult sport like gymnastics feel EASIER.

I’ve been through the struggle, both as a coach and as an athlete and dancer, and have experienced and observed first-hand how hard high-level training can be on the body.

But I’ve also see the other side, when we intentionally include the brain: More ease, less pain, chronic blocks cleared.

I’m especially passionate about teaching applied neuroscience to coaches because with these tools, you have the potential to reduce the frustration, fatigue and endless repetition that great performances demand.

We can accomplish more without always having to do more, and I’m excited to share this leading-edge approach with YOU!

What coaches are saying

  • "This is my second season integrating the techniques with some of the athletes I coach. This season we integrated 3 groups of athletes together that have similar experience, except that some haven't had the neuro performance techniques integrated into their training (until now). I truly notice a difference in the quality of movement in the athletes that have had more neuroperformance training. They typically progress more quickly through the exercises, have better attentional focus and, despite straying from typical static stretching, are as good or better than their peers in range of motion static holds. Adults who are coming back to gymnastics notice immediate improvement in range of motion and improved confidence."

    — Kari Binder, Coach, Phoenix Gymnastics Centre, Edmonton, Alberta

  • "”LevelUp Neuro is a science based program, but with a very pragmatic approach that instantly improves skill performance. Yuka's hands-on educational approach creates many instant Game Changer Moments for our gymnasts that they can take with them forever. We are very excited that Yuka became part of our Athlete Wellness Program at Redwood Empire Gymnastics!”

    — Eric Van der Meer, Owner & Coach, Redwood Empire Gymnastics

  • "I knew it was going to be great but this blew away any expectation I had. (in reference to in-person coaching) The girls learned a great deal about their own minds and bodies.

    — Eddie Umphrey, Head Coach, Grace Gymnastics

  • "Being in the program has changed my approach to my entire practice. I now incorporate neuroperformance philosophies and drills into my group classes and 1:1 mentorship programs. All of my students have seen a positive result from utilizing these tools."

    — Natasha Tia, Ayurvedic Sports Medicine

You’ve got questions, I’ve got answers

  • Every session will be recorded and sent to participants within 24 hours. Access to these recordings won’t expire.

  • No, just curiosity and an open mind. The program is designed to give you an in-depth knowledge of core principles and to support coaches with zero knowledge as wells as those with experience applying neuro drills.

  • Yes. Although I want to be transparent and say that there will be a focus on things critical to artistic athletes (balance, stability, dynamic flexibility). That said, the concepts you’ll learn in this mentorship apply to any sport and movement in general.

  • There is some cross-over. I teach from the same anatomy and principles, but this mentorship is intended to go into more detail on all of these, looking at them more broadly so you can confidently apply the concepts and drills to any situation.

  • Yes. My intention is to help participants fully understand the concepts so you’re better at knowing how and when you apply neuro drills. I typically ‘coach the coach,’ but as an athlete or artist, you can take use the knowledge for your own pursuits and progression.

  • Yes, though it will probably won’t be until the same time next year.

  • Yes - I have a team rate (up to 5 coaches) or can shape a customized version of this program for your whole staff. Send me an email at info@levelupneuro.io and we can discuss!

  • I know 10+ weeks may feel like a big commitment, but as I'll be teaching concepts throughout and as it’s meant to teach the approach as a comprehensive system, I'm offering it as a full program only.

  • Yes. I have a payment plan option (half payment at the start, half payment midway through + standard service fee.)

  • Yes, this is part of the reason I’m doing a small group. I want to support you as you integrate the approach every week but will also help you troubleshoot specific issues.

  • The fee for this program is non-refundable.
